Few Christians have understood it, yet the Bible shows us that Jesus died for all the sins of the world. It is an established and accomplished fact.
At the cross, God has removed the sin of anyone. Born again or not, Christian or not.

This means that everyone without any exception, have all their sins forgiven. This is why it is useless for more than 2000 years, to ask for forgiveness to God for our sins, when one goes through the new birth for example, and even after.

John the Baptist says it from Jesus.
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Paul also says.
Romans 5: 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The apostle John is even more clear in this passage of: :

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

It is to remove the sin of all the inhabitants of the Earth that Jesus died.
Today, and since the cross, every man and woman, has all their sins forgiven, whether Christian or not.

Most people are taught to ask God to forgive their sins at their new birth, but these sins are already forgiven for more than 2000 years, it's an accomplished fact.
It doesn't help to say "My God forgive my sins". Because it has already been done. :)
But rather say: "Thank God because there are more than 2000 years, you forgave my sins by Jesus on the cross, and during all this time I didn't know how much love you have for me! Now I repent of this sin of not having accepted your offer in Jesus Christ, thank you because I know that you forgive this sin now."

John 16:8-9 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

Jesus has perfectly explained it here, speaking of the action of the Holy Spirit.
It’s him (the Holy Spirit) who convinces people that all their sins are already forgiven.
The only sin being blamed on men today, is the one that does not recognize and accept that Jesus died precisely for all their sins.
And it is only because of this single sin, that people go to hell, all other sins have been forgiven at the cross, is a long time ago.

If all Christians were talking that way about the cross to people, there will be so many more people who would go through the new birth. They would not feel accused by God, but loved by him.
